The Hussar Cup has postponed its open qualifier indefinitely because it overlaps with the ESL Pro League. They are trying to find a new date for the event. There is supposed to be a million dollars to be won at the CS:GO event. The tournament organizer is under pressure from the invited teams to move the event.
The event at the stadium was originally scheduled for September 1-3. At the moment there is no alternative date for the esport tournament.
Hussar Cup postponed for the time being due to EPL overlap
The open European qualifier for the Hussar Cup will not take place on Thursday as expected. The Polish tournament organizer has temporarily suspended the preliminary round in order to reschedule the main event, which was scheduled to take place from August 30 to September 3. However, there is one problem with this, namely the direct overlap with ESL Pro League 18, which will be held in Malta at that time.

The tournament organizer has announced that it “received an ultimatum from the invited teams expressing their concern about financial losses due to the Hussar Cup’s schedule overlaps and shared crowds with other Esport competitions.” When two Esport events overlap, it’s always going to be a tight squeeze, because of course teams try to participate in as many tournaments as they can, but with overlaps that’s not possible and they might have to choose one over the other – with most going for the bigger / better known event. This is because organizations also have to choose wisely which event to attend with which prize pool and which opponent – assuming of course that they have also qualified.

And that’s where the Hussar Cup draws the short straw, because even though the prize pool is large (it’s one million, with first place taking home $350,000), the ESL Pro League has more prestige and tradition. While preparations for the EPL are already underway, the Hussar Cup is not quite there yet and there are only two participating teams so far.
Friendly reminder, next week we start open qualifiers – don't miss this opportunity! Each of you has a chance to get into one of the biggest esports tournaments in Poland and Europe! 🤩

The two publicly known invited teams for the event so far are ENCE and 9INE, the other teams have not been determined yet and it is unclear if they will be fixed, because at the moment there is no alternative date for the Hussar Cup and it is questionable if it will be included at all, or if it will simply take place at a later date. It has to be said that the CS:GO tournament calendar is really busy and it is difficult to squeeze an event in somewhere, especially considering that some players might have to fly and need a break between tournaments. Ticket sales have also been temporarily suspended and refunds have been offered for tickets purchased.
